If you are a recent subscribers to Hobbies's newsletter, and you are waiting for the Login information for the knitting patterns page, please note that many emails are bouncing right back to us.

Case in point? This morning's email came from an AOL.com email address.

We've made at least 3 attempts to send email to this subscriber through Google and Outlook...without success.

In fact the error message we receive is as follows: message rejected by the recipient domain.

Until our domain is white listed in your email program, we cannot respond to any incoming messages from these subscribers. Thank you.

We are still in the process of migrating our site from the old look to a totally new look. As part of this change, we consolidated our "wizard wear" knitting patterns on a single page instead of individual sweater, vest or cardigan knitting pattern pages. It makes it easier for the visitor to locate the patterns and easier for us to add new patterns. Access to the new page is combined with a subscription to the Wizard Wear newsletter, which we are about to re-activate after a long lull. When you subscribe to the newsletter, the confirmation email will contain the Username and Password required to access the list of patterns. We removed the emails of all visitors previously subscribed to the Wizard Wear Newsletter so if you would like to continue receiving the newsletter, be sure to re-subscribe. The "Login" for the new pattern page is currently limited to the "Knitting Patterns" page but we will be adding it to all pattern related pages. The subscription form will also be added throughout our website. Everyone is welcome to submit topics for the newsletter by using the blog "Contact Us" form. Be sure to add "Newsletter Topic Suggestion" to the subject line. Happy Knitting!

The email in question came from Hotmail.com - from the U.K. It was a Money Order submission sent in on 2/25/09 but now it's Time to remind all our visitors that many free email services such as Hotmail.com do not accept email messages unless the sender is "recognized" by their filter. Case in point...we received an order yesterday for which we issued an payment Invoice. It bounced back immediately with the following error message attached: "550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable - giving up on delivery of message" It is just one of the various error messages we receive for bounced emails. Regardless of the error message, the result is the same. The invoice for the pending order was not delivered to the hotmail.com address used to write to us. The customer will probably assume that we are ignoring their request. It's a natural assumption when you get no response. However, short of posting the entire email on our site and hoping the customer will notice it, we have no way to contact them, even if they send another email! If you are using Hotmail or any other free email service, be aware that their spam filters are programmed to basically refuse any email that does not already exists in the recipients' address book. Please - whitelist our domain before you contact us.

Sometimes it simply does not pay to try to improve on things. We should have left well enough alone! But...we thought we'd give it another try. A couple days ago, we associated Hobbie's Wizard Wear Blog at WordPress with wizardknits.com...with unexpected results. Earlier this morning, all WordPress posts were on a re-direct loop. As of 11:15 AM EST, looks like the problem is history... We appreciate your patience.
