This tote is definitely large enough to carry a goodly amount of litter...or books, or whatever treasures a free spirit chooses to bring along. A blue, stable knit fabric, fully lined with an extra long shoulder strap - the tote hangs at hip level! This one is already spoken for but if there is any interest, we'll write up the pattern. Reports of our being out of business have been greatly exaggerated!

In fact, we are doing quite well and nothing could be further from the truth.Its just been a VERY BUSY past few months on several non-business levels: out of state weddings and graduations, hospital stays, and tripsjust to name a few.

However, thought it was hilarious to come across the recent statement, made without the benefit of email verification, that Hobbies House of Wizard Wear had been deemed to no longer be in the wizard wear business.

The US economy being what it is these days, we are using this down time to develop and diversify. On the other hand, our overseas customers are having a field day! Just completed a prototype for Lunas tote.Weve also noticed a definite trend our knitting patterns are being downloaded at a dizzying pace.We are guessing that everyone is knitting furiously in anticipation of Halloween and the movie release in November.With that in mind, we are preparing additional knitting patterns, in various sizes, for the Team Sweaters, the OOTP cardigan and the striped crewneck. A knitting pattern mini-mart will soon be added to our Store.

So.if you have any questions, be sure to write.Send us an owl! We'restill standing...

How to Create a Luna Lovegood Costume

Want to feel dotty, weird, and dangle radishes from your ears? How about trying out the Luna Lovegood look?

Steps

Get a long, blond wig for starters. If you already have long hair, dye it either blond or a brownish blond color.
Practice keeping your eyes wide and not blinking for the truly dotty effect.
Buy or make Dirigible Plum earrings (see the tips section for more information) as well as a butter-beer cap necklace.
Find the most outrageous outfit that you can. You may want to search for a Ravenclaw tie, robes, blouse, and skirt. Try search through Wal-Mart's clearance racks, for example clothing between $3 and $7.
Stick a wand behind your ear. Wands can be purchased from the WB or Alivans, but a drumstick, chopstick, or sturdy just plain stick should do the job. Carry an upside-down magazine and a schoolbag filled with cat litter.
Attach a stuffed lion to a simple witch hat, though you could attempt to find and actual lion's head hat (plush of course).

Tips

Think creatively. Can't find Dirigible Plum earrings? Try for onions, carrots, or anything weird. Don't want an ordinary schoolbag? Look for an odd knitted bag or spazzy purse. Remember, the one rule for being Luna is not being normal.
Don't forget the voice. Sound as far off as possible, and use an Irish accent as in the film the actress is Irish. You need to practise because accurate Irish accents are hard to pull off.

Here is a knitting pattern designed for a "PoA" styled cardigan in a Plus size. We designed the cardigan as a regular length, 5 button, V-neck cardigan with ribbing along the bottom edge and a vertical ribbed button band. The style is dropped shoulder with full length sleeves and ribbed cuffs. We scooped out the back neckline for a good fit. The yarn is Knit-Picks Merino wool, a favorite of ours. 8 pages of detailed instructions with diagrams. Finished chest measurement: 48 inches. We really enjoy knitting with Patons Classic Merino wool. In fact, it is our yarn of choice when drafting our quick to knit patterns. So how difficult could it be to find all the colors [eight of them!] we needed for this fun, multi-colored crewneck? Patons does not carry all required colors...in the same yarn. End result is that some are the Classic Merino, some are washable wool in another brand.
