We imagined 2005 to be our busiest year ever at Hobbie's House but it was relatively slow compared to 2006 and 2007.

The original turn around time policy was based on ordering trends from previous years. Our growth has steadily progressed with the past 2 years showing a new trend - the mega order or 2-10+ items per order.

During 2005, the overwhelming demand for wizard wear for the book release, movie premiere, other wizarding events, plus the typical pre-Halloween crunch, required us to completely re-structure our ordering process.

Production turn around time is now dictated by a pre-determined "delivery date" which you select from a drop down menu found in the shopping cart, next to other menu options. All options, including the choice of a delivery date, must be selected in order for the shopping cart to proceed to the payment stage.

For example, if you order in February with a "need by" date of Halloween, you will receive your order in time for Halloween, not necessarily within a set time period after you placed your order.

Please contact us to check on availability of "other" delivery dates which are not part of our events listing.

Please note that as it is not unusual for us to receive orders 1 year ahead of the requested delivery date. As a result, popular delivery dates such as Halloween and other wizarding "events" are booked very early.

To avoid disappointment, please study this new system and plan accordingly.

Once our production schedule for a specific delivery date is filled, we label that delivery date as booked. Any changes to our production schedule will be announced in Hobbie's "What's New" Blog.

You can also check the status of your order. However, please note that your order number will not appear on the public working calendar until it is actually in progress.

Here are additional facts to consider when placing an order:

  • Multiple item orders [2, 4, 6 or more items per order take longer to process so that all items in your order can be shipped at one time, saving you postage.

  • Buying items separately in back to back orders, will not expedite production time. We group such orders together and they automatically becomes a multiple item order.

    • Although we ship 7 days a week, please allow 2-3 business days for US Priority Mail shipping [with Delivery Confirmation] to continental US destinations.

    For international destinations, where packages can only be posted during business hours, please allow an extra 7-10 days transit time plus an undetermined number of days while the package is held in Customs. This varies according to country.

    Please remember that all orders are completed on a custom order basis. Each order is knit to size and customized according to customer specifications.

    Sweaters and scarves are hand finished, one at a time. Each and every order goes through the same assembly process using established garment construction steps, with careful attention to detail.

    We are not Land's End, or L.L. Bean, not even an Eddie Bauer where you can place an order, pay by credit card and have your ready-made item shipped within 24 hours.
