Designing knitting patterns for children – that is how we started in the custom business well over thirty years ago. By nothing more than word of mouth, our handcrafted items were being requested by neighbors and others. They included a zip-front cabled jacket with a hood, a cherry red saddle shoulder turtleneck, monogrammed raglans and many more unique, custom knit garments.

What started as a wardrobe for a special little mademoiselle soon became a thriving cottage industry and eventually a full fledged business.

Although the interest in knit garments for little people gradually decreased, layette items remained popular with the grandmothers. Layettes certainly do not have to be all pastels, buttons and bows, and traditional.

Introducing wizard wear knitting patterns for children!

And why not? As we all know, wizards develop their magic skills at a very early age!

By popular demand, Hobbie's collection of knitting patterns for children begins with a mini school sweater [size 18 months or 24 lbs.]. We have also included a child's wizard school vest in the same size, as most of this year’s Wizarding events will take place during the summer months.

We designed these knitting patterns for children to be "generic" in nature and knit with economical yarns, available at retail stores such as Joann or Michael's Craft stores and easily customized by knitters of all skill levels. However, they are easy enough for beginners with knowledge of basic knitting techniques.
